About the Trainer

Alexandra, also known as Lexy, is a balanced dog trainer.

Starting out in 2018 as a dog walker in her neighborhood, she began taking her first steps toward understanding the world of dogs. But due to her disabilities, she was limited in what she could accomplish since she was stuck at home most of the time. In order to attend college, she decided on a service dog. That dog was her first-ever personal dog: a Golden Retriever named Jodie.

In 2019, Lexy began working with a trainer for Jodie and it quickly became apparent the trainer was not up to the task of training her dog to be a service dog. Out of options, she frantically began training Jodie to get the job done herself. In the process, Lexy found her passion for training dogs and began training alongside local service dog teams all while attending college at Sacramento City for her Associates in Psychology.

Lexy then went on to work apprenticeships for multiple dog trainers, eventually training over 10 other service dogs to graduation as well as over 500 individual dogs on a regular basis for standard obedience, advanced obedience, and even minor behavioral modification. Now at a place in life where she can feel secure in her knowledge thus far while continuing her trainer education, she has decided to open her doors independently with her company Confident K9, LLC in 2022.

Lexy is eager not only to teach but also to learn from every client she meets, make sure they feel confident in their abilities, and be the trainer she wishes she'd had.
